followers of Jesus DO WHAT JESUS DID

Jesus Proclaimed the Good News of God’s Kingdom

“The Kingdom” is Good News because it announces the arrival of a beautiful community. The longings and promises of scripture are fulfilled. Jesus called it the year of the Lord’s favour.

“Salvation” is Good News because it announces how we can enter this Good Kingdom.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
— Romans 10:9

The Kingdom is about how we can live. It draws us in.

Salvation is about how we enter. It is the invitation.

The proclaimer describes the world as it is under Jesus as Lord
and then invites the person into it.
— David Fitch 'Seven Practices for the Church on Mission' (Chapter 3)

Effective proclamation of God’s Kingdom happens when we pay attention to what the Holy Spirit is doing in the lives of those around us.

  1. Pay attention to conversations where you see a longing for more out of life.

  2. Share your experience of the Kingdom

  3. Invite people to enter by confessing their faith in Jesus as King

For Your Spiritual Formation

  1. What is the main difference between the Gospel of God’s Kingdom
    and the Gospel of Salvation?

  2. List a few short bullet points of different ways your life is better under Jesus as King. This is your testimony.

  3. If your friend asked you how to become a Christian, what would you say?
How would you describe the Kingdom of God?
How would you invite your friend to enter?

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15
